Political Cartoon

When I first went onto google to search for political cartoons of Darfur, I noticed a sad pattern. They all involved the laziness or ignorance of everyone else in the world. With a conflict this big, and with so many people dying, I feel shocked that no one felt the need to intervene with the genocide in Darfur. The United Nations United Declaration of Human Rights states in article 5 that "No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment." Regarding this as a true statement, this would mean that the genocide in Darfur should not be ignored. The United States has classified the conflict in Darfur as a genocide but yet we remain watching nothing productive happen for the people of Darfur. People are dying every day and all we can do is sit back and watch it continue. However, there are groups like Save Darfur who continue to send aid and officers to help the people of Darfur escape the pain and torture and bring them to a new life that is safer. The sad truth of this all is that the war is still going in Darfur, and we have not stopped it yet.
